Pupil Premium and Sports Funding

As a new school we will shortly publish our plans for Pupil Premium and Sports Funding.

Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium funding is additional funding given to schools to address inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their peers by ensuring funding to tackle disadvantage reaches pupils who need it most. It is intended that pupil premium funding should therefore help close the academic achievement gap between children on free school meals and those who are not.

The Pupil Premium was introduced in April 2011 and is allocated to schools to work with pupils who have been registered for free school meals at any point in the last six years.

Schools also receive funding for children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months, and children of service personnel. From 2014, it was extended to include children who had left care through adoption, special guardianship order or child arrangements / residence order in recognition of their continuing level of vulnerability and need.

Sports Funding

At Stepney Park we are committed to supporting children develop interests, skills, abilities and knowledge that will enable them to become successful citizens. Our vision is to enable all children to become confident individuals who take pride in their successes, challenge themselves further and delight in the successes of others.

We believe that physical activity is essential to a child’s well-being. That the skills, knowledge and attitudes they develop in primary school should help them to become life-long participants of sport and exercise.
