Exploring widely

Take a look at where we have travelled this term.
Forest and Meadow
Forest and Meadow have really enjoyed learning activities based on the text.
The children have been learning about looking after our seas. They have been removing plastic from the sea and sand in their play and learning activities. They are keeping our beaches clean and plastic free!
They have have been rescuing whales and sea creatures too ! They have been carefully unravelling the ropes that have trapped the beautiful sea-life!
We also enjoyed making sensory bottles to create their own sea-life experience. They used visual supports to choose their sensory ingredients.
Year 6
Last week, Year 6 went on a trip to the Science Museum. The two highlights of the trip were the workshop on explosions and the visit to the Wonderlab. In the workshop, we learned the key ingredients needed for fire, and we were shown some small explosions, including a type of explosion that was used to blow out candles.
In the Wonderlab, we had time to explore lots of interactive activities, including a seat that we could raise ourselves in by pulling on ropes and also slides made from different materials - please see the photos below!
Aside from these two activities, we also had plenty of time to look around the exhibitions in the museum, where we learned about many things, including our bodies, modern inventions and medicine.
Year 5
This term Year 5 went on an exciting trip to St Paul's Cathedral.
Right away, the children were wowed by how grand the cathedral is. A big hit was the Geometric Staircase. This stunning staircase is known for its beautiful design and has even been in films!
Inside, we saw amazing mosaics that showed the Easter story. This was a perfect link to our RE lessons, bringing the stories we'd heard to life through beautiful pictures.
We got to lie on the floor and look at them really carefully! Next, we climbed high up into the dome. First stop was the Whispering Gallery where we got an incredible view of the Cathedral from above. Even higher up was the Stone Gallery.
This outdoor walkway gave us incredible views of London. We could see so many famous landmarks such as the Shard and the Walkie Talkie building. Overall, a great day out!
Nursery
What an exciting week for Nursery this week! On Wednesday we were visited by our local city farm who brought along some eggs for us to look after. We learnt about the eggs, how to look after them and how they will hatch after 21 days. We also learnt ways to look after the chicks once they hatch.
We are excited to see what will happen with our eggs and can’t wait to take care of the baby chicks!
We have also been enjoying our time in the Woodlands. We have been searching for minibeasts and have been learning about habitats and where they like to live, as well as how to treat the minibeasts with care.
