A brilliant term at Stepney Park

What an amazing end to the year - we have so much to celebrate!

Year 6

Final Art Project

Year 6 have been completing their final project where they create their own piece of art to represent something special that they remember from their time at Stepney Park. Here are some pictures of 6 Maple creating their pieces. Come and see their exhibition this Wednesday after school.

Leavers Assembly

Year 6 have been busy practising for their performances of Oliver for their parents later this week. Here are some  of the rehearsals in action.

ChessFest

Last Thursday, Year 6 were invited to participate in ChessFest 2025 in central London. It was a fantastic day. The children received chess strategy lessons, played on a giant chessboard and  had the chance to play against a real Grandmaster. Finally, they played in a tournament of 60 children.  Congratulations to Mariam and Saif, who both won gold medals with a maximum of 12 points.

On Tuesday this week, 6 Pine performed their much-anticipated end of year show! They performed a shortened version of the Oliver Twist story, with every child playing a role in the performance. After weeks of rehearsals and singing practices, the final performance was excellent and every member of the class should be very proud. We saw some superb acting as well as some impressive singing to finish off 6 Pine’s time at Stepney Park in style!

Also, over the last few weeks, Year 6 have been completing their final art project. These artworks were then displayed in this week’s wonderful art exhibition in the art studio. The children were given the freedom to choose and create something to represent their time at school, using a wide variety of materials and tools. 6 Pine showed amazing creativity and admirable concentration to produce some truly excellent pieces of art. Well done everyone!

  Year 5

This week in Year 5, we have moved on to a new unit of learning all about statistics! First, we started by looking at the features of a line graph, including the ‘x-axis’, ‘y-axis’ and how to accurately plot data. Then, we independently had a go at representing continuous data from a table into a line graph. Have a look at our accurate plottings!

In year 5 we have been exploring and researching climate zones and biomes. The children have done a great job at labelling the different climate zones and where we find biomes. Children have also learnt to identify which fruits and animals you find in the different parts of the world. For example, the import and export of goods to/from the UK between South America such as bananas (Igue Banana farm) and (cabbage from UK farms).

They’re doing a terrific job, keep it up!

 Year 4

All things computer-y!

In Year 4 we have been using our coding knowledge to write labels on small screens. We managed to get our names on display and even created patterns with lights.

We have also been using our science knowledge to play games using controllers, made with circuits and playdough! We connected all the components together on a circuit board and used wires.

Year 3

This week 3 Maple have had a brilliant time enjoying sports day! We had ambitious 50 metre races, boys’ and girls’ races and an array of exciting activities like hurdles, discus, shotput, javelin and even a competitive egg and spoon race!

Luckily, the weather was shining, everyone remembered to bring down their bottles and the Y6 volunteers were incredibly helpful and kind towards Y3 and Y4 when leading them with their activities. Take a look at our pictures below!

In addition, we have had a fantastic time reading in the quiet corner of the playground on Thursday afternoon. 3M were so sensible following along with rulers while Faiza read the non-fiction text, Amazing Islands, out loud. As such, we were able to enjoy a beautiful afternoon in the warm, sunny weather and learn many interesting facts about how islands across the world are formed! Superstar work 3 Maple!

Year 2

What a fantastic Sports Day 2 Maple had! It was wonderful to see all the children collaborating brilliantly during the big ball throwing, cheering each other on with every impressive toss. The egg and spoon race brought out lots of giggles and careful balancing acts, while the hurdles saw our budding athletes demonstrating incredible agility and determination. Every child participated with such enthusiasm and a wonderful spirit of teamwork, making it a truly memorable day for everyone!

We have also been incredibly responsible in the cookery room during our Design and Technology lessons! The children showed amazing focus and responsibility as they learned to safely use knives to prepare vegetables for their delicious couscous dish. It was fantastic to see them carefully chopping and dicing, demonstrating great care and attention to detail. We're so proud of how well they handled this important skill, proving they can be super chefs while staying safe!

We had an absolutely wonderful time visiting the Year 6 Art Exhibition! Their eyes lit up as they explored all the amazing artwork, from vibrant paintings to incredible sculptures. It was truly inspiring to see the creativity and talent of our older students, and it gave our Year 2s lots of fantastic ideas for their own future masterpieces. Well done, Year 6!

Year 1

1 Maple went on a trip to the Postal Museum near Farringdon. We were learning about transport and the way communications have changed. We tried lots of new things. We were curious about  using telephones with cables and telephone boxes. We were responsible when trying to sort the mail in a train carriage with a moving floor!

        Forest and Meadow

Forest and Meadow Classes are always busy learning!

Here are some of the wonderful things Forest and Meadow have been doing this year! We are so proud of you all!

Developing our counting skills

We develop so many skills through a wide range of activities.

Having great fun at the Victoria Park picnic!

Reception

We have been finding out about different 3D shapes around us.  We have been exploring shapes and naming them.  We can spot shapes in our environment too.

We love playing outside in the garden and in our mud kitchen.  Look at our delicious Ballerina cakes!

Nursery

We have been developing our understanding of life-cycles in Nursery.

We have been so lucky in Nursery to watch our eggs incubating and then get to see some of them hatch.  We have taken care of our chicks, feeding them and giving them water.  We also got to hold them and we knew we had to be very gentle.  They will be going back to the farm soon and we will miss them so much.
