Remote Learning from 5th January
Following the Government announcement on Wednesday 30th December, we will be starting the year with Remote Learning.
Dear Parents and Carers of Stepney Park Primary school,
Remote Learning (school closed for children) from Tuesday January 5th :
You may have heard in the news that the Government has decided to close most primary schools in London, in order to stop the spread of Coronavirus. We have been told that all Tower Hamlets schools are included in these school closures. This means that we will need to move to remote learning from Tuesday January 5th. School will be closed to children for an Inset day on Monday January 4th.
Vulnerable children and children of critical workers.
School will be open for vulnerable children and those where one or both parents are critical workers. We will contact families of vulnerable children on Monday and invite them to attend school. Please check this list: (Critical workers and vulnerable children who can access schools or educational settings ), to check if you think you are a critical worker. If you require a place in school, you need to email admin on email@example.com by 12 pm on Monday January 4th. We will call you in the afternoon to confirm your place. School will be open from 9.00 am to 3.30 pm for vulnerable children and those of critical workers only.
Free School Meals
We will ensure that families who are entitled to a free school meal will continue to receive them, and we will be in touch at the start of next week once we have decided on how to best do this.
We will continue to teach children remotely every day from Tuesday, using Google classroom. Please make sure your child checks Google classroom to find out what time they need to be present for the online registration, which will happen twice a day. Staff will be on hand to support parents with digital learning where needed.
Children are expected to spend at least three hours a day on their remote studies; they need to be ready to learn from 9.30 daily. Please make sure that your child has had breakfast, is dressed and ready to learn at this time, we will carefully monitor attendance at remote learning. As you know, attendance is compulsory, unless your child is unwell. By law, it is a parental duty to ensure that their child attends school, whether it's in school or at home. If your child is unwell, please call the school in the morning to let us know. Any unexplained absences will be referred to the AWA, and will not be authorised.
As always, please make sure your child is well supervised when they are using the Chromebooks. We need a parent or carer to be there for the start of every registration on MEET session, so that we know that you are giving permission for your child to appear on the video stream. These sessions will be recorded but will not be shared with anyone outside of school.
What to do if your child develops symptoms of COVID 19:
If your child develops symptoms of COVID-19, they must not come to school and should remain at home for at least 10 days from the date when their symptoms appeared. Anyone with symptoms will be eligible for testing and this can be arranged via https://www.nhs.uk/ask-for-a-coronavirus-test or by calling 119.
All other household members who remain well, must stay at home and not leave the house for 10 days. This includes anyone in your ‘Support Bubble’.
