Dear Parents and Carers of Stepney Park Primary School,

Remote Learning (school closed for children):

Last week and over the weekend, we have been advised by Public Health England that there have been further confirmed cases of COVID-19 within Year 5.

As you know, last  week we have also had cases in EYFS and in Year 1.

Continuing to operate a safe and effective school is very difficult; a high proportion of our staff are unable to work in school due to Covid related reasons.

I have been consulting with Public Health England, the Chair of Governors and with the Education and Health & Safety departments in Tower Hamlets Council in the last few days, and have decided to make the very difficult decision to move to remote learning for all children from Tuesday December 1st to Monday December 7th. All children who are well and are not self-isolating can come back to school on Tuesday December 8th.

Free School Meals

We will ensure that families who are entitled to a free school meal will continue to receive them, and we will be in touch in the next few days once we have decided on how to best do this.

Digital Learning:

We will continue to teach children remotely every day from tomorrow, using Google classroom. Please make sure your child checks Google classroom to find out what time they need to be present for registration, which will happen twice a day.  Staff will be on hand to support parents with digital learning where needed.

As always, please make sure your child is well supervised when they are using the Chromebooks .

We need a parent or carer to be there for the start of every registration on MEET session, so that we know that you are giving permission for your child to appear on the video stream. These sessions will be recorded  but will not be shared with anyone outside of school.

Registration of children during term time whilst classes/ schools are not doing face to face teaching is an expectation, so as with a normal school day,  you would need to notify the school of any absence.

What to do if your child develops symptoms of COVID 19:

If your child develops symptoms of COVID-19, they must not come to school and should remain at home for at least 10 days from the date when their symptoms appeared. Anyone with symptoms will be eligible for testing and this can be arranged via https://www.nhs.uk/ask-for-a-coronavirus-test or by calling 119.

All other household members who remain well, must stay at home and not leave the house for 14 days. This includes anyone in your ‘Support Bubble’.

Kindest regards,
