Pupil Premium and Sports Funding

Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium funding is additional funding given to schools to address inequalities between children eligible, or who have been eligible, for free school meals (FSM) and their peers. It is intended that Pupil Premium funding therefore helps close the academic achievement gap between disadvantaged children and their more advantaged peers.

The Pupil Premium was introduced in April 2011 and is allocated to schools to work with pupils who have been registered for free school meals at any point in the last six years.

Schools also receive funding for children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months, and children of service personnel. From 2014, it was extended to include children who had left care through adoption, a special guardianship order or child arrangements / residence order in recognition of their continuing level of vulnerability and need.

The report provided below outlines the Pupil Premium funding that Stepney Park has received this year, how this money will be spent and how this fits into a wider strategy to support disadvantaged children.

Sports Premium

The Sports Premium is additional funding given to schools to develop strategies that support children in being physically active. At Stepney Park, we believe that physical activity is essential to a child’s well-being and that the skills, knowledge and attitudes they develop in primary school should help them to become life-long participants of sport and exercise.

The report provided below outlines the funding that Stepney Park has received and how the money is being spent this year to support our children in developing their sports and enjoying physical activity. This report also includes information about our children's achievement in swimming.
