Dear parents and carers of children at Stepney Park Primary School.
I hope you and your families are all keeping well!
Unsafe driving in Smithy Street and Redman’s Road
I would like to urge all parents to safely drop off and pick up children when using a car. I have had reports from the crossing patrols and other parents that this is not always the case. For example, some parents do not stop for the lollipop sign, speed across the street, reverse on a one way street, reverse without checking, double and triple park, and open doors without due care. This can cause dangerous situations and ‘near misses’ quite easily. Thank you for your consideration.
Consultation: holiday dates for the next school year 2025-2026:
Thank you also to all parents who responded to the consultation about next school year’s holiday dates. We had a high number of responses and over 62% of parents indicated their support for the proposed changes, whilst 13% indicated they had no objection. Both parents and staff consultations were presented to the school governors at this week’s meeting, who unanimously agreed to the proposed changes for next year.
Therefore, I can confirm that next year’s term dates are as follows:
In addition, there will also be two early closure days for the parent/ teacher meetings in the school year 2025-2026, the dates for those will be confirmed towards the end of July. Family holidays can be booked during these holidays.
Paper free communication to parents
As you know, school communication (including consultations) to parents is mostly digital/paperless. We make a few exceptions for this, for example when we ask parents to sign up for clubs. We made this decision because it is better for the environment, cuts staff workload and is more cost effective.
However, I imagine that some parents may prefer to respond to consultations via a paper method. Please feel free to let us know by email, by phone or just by telling us if you would like a different way to respond next time.
PE uniform
Thank you for remembering to help your child to wear the correct uniform for PE. As you know, they need to wear plain black tracksuit bottoms, shorts or leggings and a plain white T-shirt for PE.
Only children who have PE first thing in the morning (Wednesdays 3M + 3O, Thursdays 5M+ 5O) may wear their PE kit when going to school in the morning, whilst all other classes are expected to bring their PE kit and change at school.
Smoking and vaping
Please be reminded that smoking and vaping is not allowed at the school gates and on school premises.
Thank you for reading this newsletter and for your continued support.
Kind regards.
