Dear parents and carers of children in Stepney Park Primary School.

I hope you are all well and that you are planning to have a nice family break, whether at home or away for the half-term next week.

Eid al-Adha

I would like to inform you of a possible shift in the date for Eid al-Adha, which is now predicted to potentially be on Friday, June 6th, rather than on Saturday, June 7th, as previously indicated by Tower Hamlets Council. Due to the short notice, the school will be open on June 6th, although we anticipate and fully understand that our Muslim families and staff will be observing the holiday and celebrating Eid with their families rather than coming to school, if Eid al-Adha falls on this day. To assist with our planning, we will be in touch after the half-term holiday to ask if you will be sending your child(ren) to school on this day. We will share the confirmed Eid al-Adha date with you on Monday, June 2nd.

Family Trip

We are thrilled to invite you to our whole-school family trip on Friday, 27th June, and would love for you to join your child(ren). Keep an eye out for a letter with all the details, which was sent home with the oldest child in each family yesterday. If your letter hasn't arrived, please contact us. In the last few months, we've been working hard to secure this date with Tower Hamlets and are excited that the arrangements are now finalised. We hope you can take the day to come along and enjoy the fun with us!

Pass it on weeks/ Uniforms

Following the last two years’ success, we will have our ‘Pass it on’ weeks again. During the two ‘Pass it on’ weeks, children do not need to wear their school uniform; instead, they can come into school wearing appropriate clothes of their own choice.

We would like to ask you to donate unwanted school T-shirts, cardigans and jumpers (with school logo) at any of the 4 school gates during the ‘Pass it on Weeks’.  Staff and children from the school council will be there to receive the uniform, and thank you for your donation.

We will then wash, dry, fold and pack the spare uniform tops, and add a clear sizing label. Once this is completed, we will organise a ‘Pass it on’ give-away event. Parents can come into the playground at the end of the day and help themselves to the donated uniform. This is all free of charge.

The aims for ‘Pass it on’ weeks are as follows:

  • Prevent waste: unwanted uniforms are not thrown away, so we support the environment.

  • Save families money: by giving away unwanted uniform tops, families do not need to purchase uniform tops in shops.

Dates are as follows:

  • Monday, June 30th to Friday, July 11th: donate school uniform tops at the school gates. Children do not need to wear a school uniform.

  • Monday, July 14th and Tuesday, July 15th: ‘Pass it on give-away event’ in the school playground. Please come and help yourself! Children should wear a school uniform in this last week of term, from July 14th onwards.

Uniform reminder:

  • No tracksuit bottoms, even on PE days (unless the lesson is in the first part of the morning)

  • A skirt needs to be worn over leggings

  • T-shirts and jumpers need to have a school logo

Thank you for reading this newsletter and for your continued support.

Kind regards.
