Dear parents and carers of Stepney Park,
Happy New Year! I hope that you all had a restful break and, to those who celebrate it, a wonderful Christmas.
It is with both pride and excitement that I write to you today as the new headteacher of Stepney Park Primary School.
As many of you know, I have already been part of the Stepney Park community for a number of years as deputy head, so I know how special this community is. Our children excel academically, achieving far more than national averages by the time they leave year 6. However, more than that, children at our school grow into mature and confident young people with opinions, interests and ideas. This is down to their hard work, of course, but also to the immense support they receive from you at home, as well as the dedication of staff across the school.
I am therefore in the wonderful position of being tasked with building on the many successes of a school community I know to be brilliant. To that end, I am immensely grateful to Edith, Stepney Park’s first but now former headteacher. Not only has her leadership of the school brought it into such a strong position, but she has also been hugely helpful in ensuring a smooth transition. In the coming months and years, I will do all I can to maintain the school’s ethos of deep care for the children and their personal development alongside a rigorous approach to learning.
I am also looking forward to working alongside you as you are the most important people in your children’s lives, and I value hearing your opinions and concerns. You will still be able to find me at the school gate as before, but you can also reach me by email at admin@stepneypark.towerhamlets.sch.uk. Emails to this address are checked regularly and forwarded to the relevant member of staff.
Thank you for your continued trust in the school.
Richard Thompson.
