Headteacher's News

Friday 27th February 2026

Dear parents and carers of Stepney Park,

Firstly, I hope you enjoyed the half term break. It’s been great this week to see the children return to school well-rested and ready for more learning.

Eid Closure. As you know, Stepney Park will be closed for Eid al-Fitr on either Thursday 19th March or Friday 20th March. Parents will be notified by text the evening before the closure. For those families that do not celebrate Eid, we understand that this may make childcare difficult to manage. As such, we are exploring the possibility of offering childcare at school on this day.

Some further details about this possibility:

  • This childcare would be for the duration of the main school day (i.e. 8.50am - 3.30pm).

  • Childcare activities would be organised, rather than formal lessons.

  • As our kitchens will be closed, children must come to school with a packed lunch.

  • This childcare would only be available to parents who have signed up for it in advance.

Though we would not charge for this childcare, our ability to offer it depends on the number of children who would attend. If you would like your child to attend, please complete this form by Friday 6th March. We will then confirm with you if we are able to offer it.

All the best for the week ahead.

Richard.

Headteacher, Stepney Park Primary School.

Stars of Stepney Park

Y3 Trip to the Natural History Museum. Before the half-term holiday, Year 3 visited the Natural History Museum. They saw many fossils, including ichthyosaur and plesiosaur skeletons that were discovered by Mary Anning, who they had been learning about in English lessons. Of course, no visit to the Natural History Museum is complete without seeing the dinosaurs. They also took part in a dinosaur dig workshop before seeing the mechanical Tyrannosaurus rex!

Y3 making dips. In DT this half term, Y3 have begun an exciting food technology project all about hummus! In their first lesson, they tasted a range of different dips, using the five senses to explore their flavour, texture, smell and appearance, and thinking carefully about what they liked and why. Next, they will be developing their food preparation skills by squeezing fresh lemons, crushing garlic and blending ingredients together safely. They are also looking forward to refining their recipes and taking a small batch of hummus home!
