Headteacher's News

Friday 13th March 2026

Dear parents and carers of Stepney Park,

 

Eid al-Fitr. As you know, the school will be closed for Eid next week on either Thursday 19th March or Friday 20th March. You will be informed of the closure by text the evening before. We also have a range of activities to mark the celebration in school:

  • On Tuesday 17th March, children will work with a partner from another class to create Eid decorations that will go up in the school halls.

  • After Eid itself, on Wednesday 25th March, children can come to school in their own clothes and there will be a special Eid lunch.

If I don’t see you before then, Eid mubarak to all who are celebrating; I hope it is a time of joy for you and your family.

Deputy Headteacher. Following my appointment as headteacher, we have of course had a vacancy for a deputy headteacher. We had a very rigorous recruitment process this week and I’m very pleased to announce that Anna Willis, currently our Assistant Headteacher, has been appointed. She will take up the position when she returns from maternity leave in a few weeks: I have no doubt that she will contribute hugely to the school in her new position. As she said herself, “I am thrilled to have been appointed as Deputy Headteacher and feel truly honoured to take on this role. I will strive to do my very best for the children, parents, and whole school community as we continue to succeed together.”

Y1 in Nature. In Y1, children have been looking at how the trees in the woodlands have been changing as we get closer to spring. They were curious about how many insects and blossoms they could see in the woodlands. They looked carefully at the trees, drawing and labelling them. Some of them even chose to paint the blossoms from the trees when we came back to class.

Coming up next week: 

  • Eid al-Fitr. The school will be closed for Eid al-Fitr on either Thursday 19th March or Friday 20th March. Parents will be notified by text message the evening before.

  • Y2 trip to the fire station. Wednesday 18th March for 2Willow and 2Maple, Thursday 26th March for 2Oak.

     

Other dates to note:

  • Parent-Teacher Meetings. These will be held on Tuesday 24th March. As previously, the school will close to children at 1.00pm to allow these to take place.If you haven’t yet booked a time, please click here to do so.

  • End of term - Friday 27th March. The school will close to children at 1.00pm.
