Headteacher's News

 Friday 17th April 2026

Dear parents and carers of Stepney Park,

I hope you had a restful and enjoyable break over the Easter period. It’s been great to see the children return enthusiastic for the term ahead.

Talent Show. As many parents will know, our annual talent show is a highlight of the year for many children. It’s a great opportunity for children to perform and show off their particular talents. As usual, there will be three separate talent shows for children in years 1 and 2, years 3 and 4, and years 5 and 6. The finals will take place in the last week before the half term break at the end of May, but finalists will have had to come through a competition in class and a semi-final in their year group first.

As well as providing an opportunity to perform, whether alone or in a group, part of the benefit of the talent show is that it supports children’s growing independence. This is because they are expected to come up with an idea and practise it in their own time at break, lunchtime or at home.

As previously, the parents of our finalists will be invited to join us on the day and watch the performances.

All the best for the week ahead.

Richard.

Headteacher, Stepney Park Primary School.

Stars of Stepney Park

Year 6 at the Science Museum. Year 6’s trip to the Science Museum was a great success, providing a perfect stage for the children to be both curious and responsible as they explored the wonders of science. A highlight was the interactive workshop on states of matter, where they had the chance to collaborate on live experiments to observe how substances transition between solids, liquids, and gases. Whether they were marvelling at the historic locomotives or navigating the hands-on galleries, the children showed a genuine passion for discovery. It was wonderful to see them working together so effectively, asking insightful questions and representing the school with such maturity throughout the day.

Design & Technology. Part of a great education is of course a broad curriculum, and we are proud of the range of opportunities children get at Stepney Park. This includes Design & Technology: children from year 1 to year 6 have three Design & Technology projects each year where they learn a range of skills and, importantly, have to apply these to solve a range of problems. Every year group has one project linked to cooking, but the rest vary widely. In the pictures below, year 2 are building cars while year 5 are sewing a pouch.
