Headteacher's News

 Friday 22nd May 2026

Dear parents and carers of Stepney Park,

Talent Show. We had our annual talent shows this week and, as ever, I was incredibly impressed by the children’s talents, and their increasing confidence in performing. We saw children singing, dancing, playing musical instruments, performing gymnastics, magic and even mindreading! Very well done to them all, but of course especially to our three very worthy winners!

Sports Day. A reminder that Sports Day will take place on Thursday 4th June at Mile End Stadium for children in years 3, 4, 5 and 6. Years 3 and 4 will go in the morning (starting around 9.40am) and years 5 and 6 in the afternoon (starting around 1.00pm). As usual, parents are invited to join us by meeting us there – you will be asked to sign in on arrival. Younger children will have their sports days in school later in the term.

Yoga. Our yoga teacher, Ameneh, had her last day at school this week. She’s brought a lot to the school, but sadly this means that yoga class for parents will no longer be available.

All the best for the week ahead, and enjoy the bank holiday weekend!

Richard

Stars of Stepney Park

Y1 PSHE. At Stepney Park, children have a weekly PSHE lesson. This is an important subject which equips children with vital life skills, emotional resilience and real-world knowledge which will support their health and wellbeing as they grow. In Y1, children have discussed differences between people and why these should be celebrated. They read the book The Boy with Flowers in his Hair and discussed what made the character unique before thinking about what makes themselves unique.

Multiplication in Y1. It is in year 1 that children first learn about multiplication by counting in groups. In year 1 this week, children have arranged objects into groups of 2, 5 and 10 to help them count in these groups.
