Headteacher's News

 Friday 12th June 2026

Dear parents and carers of Stepney Park,

Chess Success. As you may know, all children at Stepney Park learn to play chess as part of our curriculum in year 4. However, we also have a chess club for children who want to play more chess and a team that competes against other schools. I’m delighted to announce that this year, our team won the local Stepney Chess League, and indeed won each individual round of it through the year. They brought back a fantastic trophy on Friday which will be duly engraved to mark the school’s victory.

Sports Days. We were mostly lucky with the weather for our sports days for key stage 1 and reception this week. The children had a great time, and well done in particular to our new sprint champions in years 1 and 2:

  • Year 1 - Fadel, Jana

  • Year 2 - Adam, Liyana

Breakfast Club. To support working parents, Breakfast Club will now start at the earlier time of 7.50am and accept children arriving up to 8.40am. If you think it would be beneficial for your child to attend Breakfast Club, please contact the school office so that your child can be added to the Breakfast Club register.

Lost Property. We have moved our lost property area inside to avoid clothes getting wet when they are added to it. Lost property is now under the stairs near the main entrance, as shown in the photos below.

All the best for the week ahead,

Richard.

Headteacher, Stepney Park Primary School.

A taste of secondary school. This week, Year 5 have been very curious about science and trying new things at Mulberry Stepney School’s science lab! The children completed five different experiments, some of which included using bunsen burners for the first time and chemicals like borax (to make slime!)

They all did so well in pushing themselves to try something new and be curious with their new learning - take a look at the various experiments and see if you can see what they were trying to investigate in each of the pictures!
