Headteacher's News

 Friday 19th June 2026

Dear parents and carers of Stepney Park,

Music at Stepney Park. As you may know, all children at Stepney Park from reception to year 6 are taught music by Stuart, our specialist music teacher. However, there is much more on offer for children who have an interest in music: we have two school choirs (one for younger children and another for older children), instrumental tuition in violin, flute and guitar and a school band. This week, I was lucky enough to watch the violinists at their first showcase, performed to their parents and our year 4 classes. I was incredibly impressed by their skill and the dedication they’ve put into their practice. Well done to them all!

Year 4 Sleepover. Year 4 had their sleepover in school last night. As you would expect, there was a lot of excitement and fun was had by all - I hope it will make for a special memory for the children. However, this type of experience asks for a lot from staff, to keep working overnight, so I’d also like to express here my thanks to them all for their dedication to the children.

Safety in the heat. As parents will know, we are expecting a period of hot weather over the coming days. Staff will of course remind children to drink water, stay in the shade if they are feeling hot and take off their jumpers. As always, it would be helpful for parents to reinforce these messages and ensure children come into school dressed appropriately, ideally with a sunhat etc.

All the best for the week ahead,

Richard.

Headteacher, Stepney Park Primary School.

Stars of Stepney Park

Spelling Superstars. As you may know, not only do we hold an annual Spelling Bee in school, the winners from each year group go on to represent the school in the Stepney Partnership Spelling Bee. I’m delighted to announce that the children who represented the school did so excellently, and that our representatives from years 4, 5 and 6 all won their respective contests. Congratulations to them all.

Year 6’s Artwork. Over the last 4 weeks, Year 6 have been completing their final art project - an independent piece inspired by a memory from their time at Stepney Park. They were given a wide range of materials to work with, including clay, wood, metal and cardboard, and they were challenged to make something unique that reflected their chosen memory. They have had to use many skills in order to complete the project, including cutting, measuring, sketching, modelling and painting. The artwork will be put on display for the Year 6 showcase towards the end of the year - the children are excited to show off their creations.
