Headteacher's News

 Friday 10th July 2026

Dear parents and carers of Stepney Park,

End of Year Reports. As you may know, at Stepney Park we share our main annual reports in the Spring. However, you will shortly receive a second, briefer report regarding your child’s year at school. This will include their attendance for the year and assessment of their learning. This includes SATs results for year 6. For the first time, this year we will send this by email. We will confirm when this has been sent by text so that parents can check junk folders if necessary.

Reminder - uniform donation. As I wrote last week, we will be organising a uniform swap in the last week of term. If you have any uniform that you no longer need, please leave this in one of the boxes in the main school entrance. Children should continue to come to school in uniform, so please only donate what they don’t need. Children in year 6 can come to school in their own clothes and donate all their uniform from Wednesday 15th July should you wish, but they might want to keep a T-shirt for signing at the end of the year.

School Football Kit. Our football teams have had a very successful year - boys’ and girls’ teams in multiple year groups have won their local tournaments. We’d like to celebrate this and get a proper school football kit and we’re looking for a sponsor to fund them. This might be a local business owner willing to help encourage our children and showcase their business at the time. If you or someone you know wants to support our young athletes, please get in touch with the school.

All the best for the week ahead,

Richard.

Stars of Stepney Park

DT in Y3. In Year 3, children have been creating miniature gift boxes in Design and Technology. They learnt about shell structures and practised how to make these boxes out of cardboard nets - cutting and folding accurately, gluing and testing. Everyone had a great time designing and making their own gift boxes. They improved their boxes by adding a handle so it could be carried easily and extra cardboard to make them sturdier.  Finally, they evaluated their gift box by explaining what went well and how they could improve next time.

ChessFest 2026. Last week, 30 children from the years 4, 5 and 6 chess club were invited to take part in a day of chess activities at ChessFest. They played collaborative chess, played simultaneously against a grandmaster and took part in a tournament. Everyone had a great time and impressed the tutors with their excellent chess skills. Collectively, they won 6 bronze medals, 5 silver medals and 2 gold medals, the winners of both of which won all 15 points available.
