Dear parents and carers of Stepney Park,

After school childcare. I am currently exploring the possibility of offering after school childcare to parents who might need it. As part of this process, it would be very helpful to know if you would be interested in this for your own child. Although we still need to work through the details, we expect this would be available until 5.30pm Monday-Friday and cost between £6 and £8 per child per day. If this is something you would be interested in for your child or children, I’d be grateful if you could complete the short form here.

Reading with your child. From time to time, I am asked about how to support children’s education at home. There is no doubt that reading with them (and to them) is one of the best things you can do: it builds language and vocabulary and, over time, will help children to love reading. All children from Y1-Y6 should now have a reading book from school. Younger children may have two books: one that is aligned to their level of phonics to give them lots of practice and another that they have chosen themselves, which you may wish to read to them.Children in reception will also start bringing home books that are aligned with the phonics sounds they have learnt. The timing of this may vary slightly from child to child, so ask your child’s teacher for further information.

Stars of Stepney Park

Reception. Starting reception can be a big step for some children (and parents), so it’s great to see that they’ve made a wonderful start to the year. It has been lovely to see their confidence growing each day as they explore their new learning environment.

The children have been enjoying a wide range of activities and experiences. They have been developing their creativity and fine motor skills by playing with play dough, making different shapes and creations. They have also been talking about their families, and the children have enjoyed drawing pictures of their family members. 

Our outdoor learning has been a big hit! The children have loved climbing on the climbing frame, developing their balance, coordination and physical skills. They have also enjoyed playing in the sand, using their imaginations to build, dig, scoop and create.

Notices

  • Year 6 Residential. Most of our children in Y6 will be spending two nights away from home, having a tremendous adventure and, hopefully, becoming more confident and resilient in the process.

  • Meet the Teacher. This is an opportunity to learn more about your child’s year of learning ahead. They all take place at 9.10am:

    • Nursery - Wednesday 16th September

    • Reception - Tuesday 15th September

    • Y1 - Monday 14th September

  • Term Dates. The school will next be closed for half term from Wednesday 21st October to Friday 30th October. Term dates for the rest of this academic year are available on the school website here.
